The Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) is a United States federal law passed in 2002 that made it a requirement for federal agencies to develop, document, and implement an information security and protection program. FISMA 2020 will be a watershed year. Until recently, FISMA compliance was viewed as a “nice-to-have”. In 2020, federal government agencies are becoming serious about FISMA Compliance and FISMA reporting. In 2020 FISMA certification will become a requirement for all federal information systems that are connected with the federal government systems.
